Singapore has the healthiest population in the world, according to a new ranking released this week by Bloomberg, a financial news and data service.
The Republic earned an overall health grade of 89.45 per cent, pipping Italy, Australia, Switzerland and Japan - the other countries in the top five.
Using data updated as of May this year from the United Nations, World Bank and the World Health Organisation, the news agency looked at the health-related indicators of 145 countries with at least one million people.
To determine a country's health grade, it first toted up its positive indicators, such as long life and low infant mortality, or what the survey called the "total health score".
