New Thomson MRT line to open from 2019, and have 22 stations

The upcoming 30km Thomson Line will have 22 stations and be opened in three stages from 2019, said Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew.

Mr Lui unveiled the finalised alignment for the $18 billion line at an event on Wednesday morning. The fully-underground Thomson Line will be Singapore's sixth MRT line and run on a four-car system.

It will have six interchange stations that will connect to all existing MRT lines and the upcoming Downtown Line. The Thomson Line will connect to the North-South Line at Woodlands, Orchard and Marina Bay stations.

It will be linked with the Circle Line at Caldecott and Marina Bay, and with the North-East Line and East-West Line at Outram Park. The sixth interchange station is Stevens on stage two of the upcoming Downtown Line.
